1. What HeriBMS is

HeriBMS (Heri Business Management System) is software for running a business that sells products and keeps stock, or sells services such as repairs and haircuts at a set price. It records sales at the till, stock and its prices, customers and what they owe, payments, expenses, staff and branches, and works in the web browser on a phone, tablet or computer. It is made by IHL Tech Africa for businesses in Kenya, and prices, money and tax follow Kenyan practice: amounts in KES, M-Pesa at the till, and VAT for registered businesses.

2. Who it is for

Shops and dukas, supermarkets and minimarts, cosmetics shops, hardware stores, agrovets, wholesalers, distributors and importers: any business that buys stock and sells it, from one person at one till to a team across several branches.

3. What it does today

  • Sales at the till, with cash, card, bank and M-Pesa payments. A business that connects its own M-Pesa Daraja app can send an M-Pesa prompt to the customer's phone, and the payment is recorded by itself.
  • Stock by product and branch, oldest stock sold first, reorder warnings, and optional expiry dates.
  • Customers, what they owe, credit limits and WhatsApp reminders for overdue debts.
  • Expenses, sales reports and profit and loss; VAT on invoices for VAT-registered businesses.
  • Importing a business's existing customers, debts and products from photos of its books or from a spreadsheet, checked before anything is added.
  • A supplier marketplace where businesses compare approved suppliers' prices and order stock.
  • Each person's own sign-in with a role, optional two-step sign-in, and a record of who did what.

4. How it is paid for

Every business can try HeriBMS free for 7 days with no card. After that it chooses a plan and pays by M-Pesa for the monthly or yearly plan: the Duka plan for one shop (KES 1,499 a month), the Biashara plan for a busier single branch (KES 7,999 a month) or the Wenye plan for several branches (KES 9,899 a month for up to 3). Paying for a year costs about two months less. KRA eTIMS invoicing is an add-on, priced on request.

5. Your records

Each business sees only its own records. The app runs on Vercel servers in Frankfurt, Germany, with the database run by Neon. A business can download all its records at any time. The privacy policy sets out what is collected, who processes it and how long it is kept.
